Supporting
KIS
KIS is a non-profit institution, and like many independent international schools, tuition fees alone do not fully cover the cost of providing the high standard of education our community expects. Support from individual and corporate philanthropy plays a vital role in helping us achieve our mission and vision for the future. The ongoing generosity of donors has been a cornerstone of KIS’s development since its founding, ensuring continued excellence in education.
While KIS deeply values philanthropic support from friends and the broader community, the school does not accept gifts from prospective families who are not otherwise affiliated with the school during the Admissions process. This policy ensures that our focus remains on prospective students and their qualifications as candidates for admission.
How Can You Support KIS?
Time & Talents
Community members can volunteer at school events, present to students about an area of expertise, or offer an extra-curricular activity for students.
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations can be made through bank transfer or credit card. Please note that credit card payments are subject to a service fee of 4%.
Corporate Sponsorship
We are considering offering opportunities for corporate sponsorships, such as displays on the school website and naming rights for buildings and classrooms (e.g. "Corporate Name" Hall). Please contact the school office if interested.
Tax Benefits for Donations to KIS
KIS holds a special tax dispensation status (tokuzo) as a Tokutei Koeki Zoshin Hojin (Special Public Interest Promotion Organization), which allows us to issue tax receipts for yen donations over ¥2,000. This status enables donors to deduct the amount of their donation from their taxable income, calculated as follows:
Deduction = Annual amount of donations - ¥2,000
The maximum amount of donations eligible for deduction is up to 40% of your total income.
For corporate donors, tax benefits are calculated differently, following the procedures applicable to Special Public Interest Promotion Organizations.
To utilize this tax benefit, please file your tax return at your local tax office. A receipt or certificate issued by KIS is required for this process, so we encourage you to keep your receipt until tax season.
For more information on tax deductibility, please contact the Business Office at business@kis.ac.jp.
