Our Admission Statement

Kyoto International School serves the needs of families who reside in the Kansai area and have an interest in an English language internationally designed education. Admissions and class placement will be decided by criteria such as available space, age, current grade level enrollment, past student achievement and motivation, language support at home, and prospects of learning successfully at KIS. Kyoto International School seeks motivated students who will be able to succeed in a challenging and well-rounded program.

Pre-Elementary Group Activity Support Program

Kyoto International School is entitled to Kyoto City’s Pre-Elementary Group Activity Support Program!
Parents living in Kyoto City can receive up to ¥20,000 in monthly subsidies to support their child’s early education journey! (Pre-school – Kindergarten)
京都市における小学校就学前の子どもを対象とした多様な集団活動事業の利用支援事業。
KISは京都市の基準適合審査により支給施設等として決定を受けており、京都市在住の保護者は施設に支払った保育料相当額（上限2万円／月）を受け取ることができます。

Grade 11 Opening in August 2025 – Applications Coming Soon

Kyoto International School (KIS) is happy to announce the opening of our Grade 11 class in August 2025 as part of our fully developed high school program. Offering a wide range of subject options, our program is designed to prepare students for entry into universities around the world.

Grade 12 will follow in August 2026, with our first high school graduation taking place in 2027—coinciding with the 70th anniversary of KIS!

We are now accepting applications for Grade 11, and we are excited to offer scholarships of up to 100% for students who demonstrate exceptional academic excellence.
