Kyoto International School is an International Baccalaureate school Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 10 and we are now an IB Diploma World School, with Grade 11 opening in August 2025 and Grade 12 in August 2026. We will offer a full range of courses to ensure an outstanding high school offering and access to universities anywhere in the world.

What is IBDP?

KIS IBDP Scholarship Exam

We are delighted to announce the KIS Scholarship Exam for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The exam is open to students currently in Grade 10 (1st year of Japanese high school). Successful candidates will be eligible to enter Grade 11 at Kyoto International School and begin the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in August 2025.

New Facility for Middle and High School – Taiken Campus

KIS is renovating a new facility for middle and high school students, which is called the KIS Taiken Campus. It is about 6 minutes walk from the current KIS campus and opened in August 2024. There is significantly more space for our older students and capacity for continued substantial growth. The facilities include a new science lab, performing arts room, art and design studio, classrooms for all other subjects, and a student study lounge and library. This exciting development alongside our status as the only IB Continuum school (IB PYP, IB MYP & IB DP) in Kyoto, will ensure that KIS provides an outstanding experience and enable the development of a full high school programme for the school with links to universities in Kyoto, Japan and across the globe.
